Benchmark indices scaled fresh record highs on Wednesday, led by gains in banks, automobile and metal stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,654.75-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were UltraTech Cement, Hindalco, Bajaj Auto, JSW Steel and Tata Motors while losers included ONGC, NTPC, Adani Enterprises, Britannia Industries and UPL.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ONGC and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of 3M India emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 15.72% on NSE today to settle at Rs 36,389.95.
Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) shares also soared 8.05% to close at Rs 114. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 22,821.7 crore.
Shares of Sharda Cropchem surged 6.42% to end at Rs 454.8 today. The company's market cap came at Rs 4,103.2 crore.
Shares Sona BLW Precision Forgings gained 6.16% today to settle at Rs 614.5. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 36,036.9 crore.
Shares of Vedanta Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 3.55% to close at Rs 252.4 on Wednesday.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services shares slipped 3.51% to end the session at Rs 1,210.85. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 17,984.8 crore today.
Shares of Safari Industries (India) were also among top losers in the NSE 500 pack today. The stock lost 3.51% to settle at Rs 1,992.65. The company's market cap was at Rs 9,478.5 crore.
"Nifty has bullish momentum. It has crossed 21,500-21,600 zones, which acted as key resistance levels. Now, we can expect a move towards 21,800-22,000. 21,500 is a key support level. Below the said support, we can expect pressure towards the 21,325 area," said Pravesh Gour, Senior Technical Analyst at Swastika Investmart.
