Benchmark indices on Wednesday continued their record run, led by gains in technology, energy and consumer goods stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 20,937.70-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Wipro, LTIMindtree, ITC, L&T and TCS while losers included Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, Cipla, NTPC and Axis Bank.
Stocks such as Adani Ent, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid, SBI and ITC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of Adani Total Gas emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 19.99% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,053.3.
Adani Green Energy shares also rallied 15.94% to close at Rs 1,563.45. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 2,47,655.6 crore.
Shares of Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd surged 12.63% to end at Rs 152.9 today. The company's market cap came at Rs 8,435.3 crore.
Shares of Balaji Amines gained 12.19% today to settle at Rs 2,307.6. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 7,476.9 crore.
Shares of Balrampur Chini Mills fell sharply today. The stock dived 7.32% to close at Rs 431.8 on Wednesday.
Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd shares tanked 5.94% to end the session at Rs 363.45. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 7,955.9 crore today.
Shares of Can Fin Homes were also among top losers in the NSE 500 pack today. The stock lost 5.75% to settle at Rs 788.75. The company's market cap was at Rs 10,502.5 crore.
"Impressive winning streak continued for the 7th straight session as the street is now anticipating a strong popular mandate for the BJP in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Also, falling crude oil prices and hopes that the US Federal Reserve will initiate rate cuts in the coming year boosted investor confidence," said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research) at Mehta Equities.
