Benchmark indices continued their upward run on Friday, led by gains in automobile, IT and pharma stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,040.70-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Wipro, SBI Life, M&M, Adani Ports and Bajaj Auto while losers included PowerGrid, Britannia, SBI, Reliance Industries and NTPC.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, SBI, BPCL, ITC and Reliance were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. ONGC and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Natco Pharma Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 15.71% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,026.5. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 18,385.6 crore.
The New India Assurance Company Ltd (NIACL) shares soared 15.59% to close at Rs 285.85. The company's m-cap came at Rs 47,108.1 crore.
Rain Industries Ltd shares surged 11.23% to close at Rs 201.1. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 6,763.9 crore. General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC-Re), Data Patterns, Mastek and UNO Minda were some of the other gainers.
Shares of Gujarat Gas Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 6.16% to close at Rs 545.05 on Friday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 37,520.7 crore.
Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd shares slipped 4.88% to end the session at Rs 468.1. The company's m-cap came at Rs 35,992.7 crore today. FDC, EIH, RHI Magnesita and SJVN were among some other laggards.
