Stolen Phone No More?

Google introduces new security features for Android phones, including a theft detection function. This feature, alongside others, will also be available for older Android versions via updates.

Theft Detection Lock

The Theft Detection Lock activates by identifying unusual motions suggestive of theft, such as a sudden snatch. It automatically locks the screen to secure data

Remote Lock Feature

Google enables users to remotely lock their phones through android.com/lock using a phone number and security challenge. This update applies to devices running Android 10 or later.

Private Spaces

Android 15 introduces ‘private spaces’ to segregate sensitive apps and data, secured by a unique PIN. The new set of features also safeguard against unauthorised factory resets

Play Protect

Another feature called Play Protect allows live threat detection which will detect phishing and fraud calls in realtime and provide an instant alert.  The feature will be coming to multiple Android devices.

Keynote Highlights

Despite a lesser focus in Google's I/O keynote, Android 15's upcoming features, including enhanced security measures, are highlighted as major advancements for various Android phones and will change how we use our devices.
