Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that India has already started preparing for 6G technology during the session ‘Communicate India: The Big Picture. 5G Foundation. Industry 4.0. Digital Nation’ at Tech Today Congress
During a conversation with BTTV’s Managing Editor, Siddharth Zarabi, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “6G might become a commercially deployable technology by 2029. Hence, India must start today so when the rollout happens, we are also part of the game."
Ashwini Vaishnaw pointed out the multiple developments in the telecom sector as he said, “We have created a PPC model by which very complex solutions can be created in a trusted and transparent manner. 4G and 5G technology stack of India has also been developed following the same principle.”
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “AI has a huge potential. We will need some boundaries, conditions and regulatory guardrails for AI. The overall impact of AI is yet to be evaluated”
Ashwini Vaishnaw also spoke about the newly launched government's non-profit e-commerce platform Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). "ONDC is one of the platforms which is bringing empowerment to small and medium enterprises,” said Vaishnaw
In light of the semiconductor chip crisis in the country, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India will soon become a hub of semiconductor chips, that will reduce the dependence on other countries for the same, under the 'AtmaNirbhar Bharat' initiative. He added, "Today, we have crossed the milestone of $105 billion in terms of the size of mobile phone manufacturing.”
Ashwini Vaishnaw talked about PM Modi’s dream of creating Digital India as he said, "When PM Narendra Modi took over, he focussed on multiple initiatives and Digital India was one of them.”
The Union Minister further shared his idea of Digital Bharat as he said, "Technology has been democratised and has reached the last person in the society. It has permeated in multiple sectors."
