Elon Musk has sent the internet in a frenzy after he shared a picture of a human robot, Tesla Bot, doing ‘Namaste’ on X, formerly known as Twitter. This robot has limbs, head, fingers, legs and more just like human beings; remember terminator?

The official page of Tesla Bot called Tesla Optimus also shared a video where the robot is stretching and doing yoga by extending its arms and standing on one leg, just like “Natarajasana” and “Vrkshasana”

Unveiled at Tesla’s Artificial Intelligence Day in 2021, Tesla Bot or Tesla Optimus is 5 feet 8 robot that weighs 125 pounds (56 Kg approx). With this robot, Musk aims to “relieve humans of their hazardous, repetitive and boring jobs”

Story behind Tesla’s

This Tesla robot is capable of self-calibrating its arms and legs and can even sort objects autonomously. The company says that “Its neural network is trained fully end-to-end: video in, controls out”.

What is Tesla Bot
capable of?

Back in 2022, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had announced that he expects the robot to cost less than a car: “much less than $20,000,”. He added, “Our goal is to make a useful humanoid robot as quickly as possible”.

than a car: Musk

At Tesla’s Investor Day earlier this year, the tech billionaire Elon Musk stated, “You could sort of see a home use for robots, certainly industrial uses for robots, humanoid robots. I think we might exceed a one-to-one ratio of humanoid robots to humans. It’s not even clear what an economy is at that point.”

outnumbering humans

To avoid AI apocalypse scenario, Musk recently said, “It’s actually important for us to worry about a Terminator future in order to avoid a Terminator future”. This was after he announced xAI, an artificial intelligence startup of his own.

Ironically, Musk’s Tesla is extensively working on the human robot and has listed a slew of job openings across the world, inviting interested candidates to work on Tesla Bot

While still investing in projects heavily powered by AI, Musk predicts that AI can cause ‘civilization destruction’ and even signed an open letter for pausing AI system training
