Korean tech giant Samsung has long been the undisputed leader of the foldable phone segment. But ahead of the company’s upcoming annual event Unpacked 2023, the market competition among foldable phone offerings has increased with Oppo, Vivo and Google in the fray.

Samsung Z Flip 4 comes in three storage variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 512 GB storage. Z Flip 4 has a 6.7-inch primary FHD+ dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is based on the octa-core 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Powered by a 3700mAh battery, Flip 4 has a dual rear-camera setup comprising a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 12MP wide-angle lens. Samsung Z Flip 4 price starts at Rs 80,999.

Samsung offers the Fold 4 in three storage variants with 12GB RAM as the standard: 256GB, 512GB and 1TB internal storage. The phone features a 7.6-inch dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The phone also has a 6.2-inch cover display. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Interestingly, the phone has five cameras, one on the cover display, one on the main screen and a triple camera setup at the back. The phone has a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Oppo entered the competition with their Find N2 Flip which comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. This foldable phone is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC. The phone comes with a primary 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. While the cover display is a 3.62-inch OLED screen. Oppo also gives a dual camera setup of 50MP and 8MP respectively. Talking about the power, it packs a 4,300mAh battery supporting 44W fast charging. Oppo Find N2 Flip price starts at Rs 89,999.

Vivo has also launched two foldable phones, one of them is Vivo X Fold 2. It is based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with a triple camera setup at the back. The phone is available in a base storage variant of 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It will be powered by a 4,800mAh battery supporting 120W fast charging. This phone is expected to launch on July 19 with the starting price of Rs 1,07,490.

Vivo X Fold 2: Price, Specs

Vivo X Flip will come in two storage variants both coupled with 12GB RAM: 256GB and 512GB internal storage. It comes with a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The company has partnered with Qualcomm to power their foldable phone with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The phone has a dual camera setup with a 50MP primary lens and 12MP ultra-wide angle lens. It is expected to launch on July 27 with price starting at Rs 71,600.

Vivo X Flip: Price, Features

Tecno introduced their first foldable phone during the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona. The phone is touted to be the first left-right foldable phone with a screen bigger than that of Galaxy Z Fold 4. Phantom V Fold has a 6.42-inch AMOLED cover display and the main 7.85-inch LTPO display with 120Hz refresh rate. It is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset paired with 12GB RAM. The phone features a triple camera setup at the back with two selfie cameras. The device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. Tecno has launched the single variant with 512GB storage priced at Rs 88,888.

Tecno Phantom V Fold: Price, Specs

Google recently revealed their first foldable phone Google Pixel Fold at the I/O 2023. It is powered by the Google Tensor G2 Titan M2 processor paired to the 12GB RAM. There are two storage options - 256GB and 512GB. Google has equipped its new device with a triple camera setup at the back – 48MP primary lens, 10.8MP ultra-wide lens and 10.8MP telephoto lens. The phone also has two selfie cameras. The phones will be powered by a 4,821 mAh battery supporting 30W charging. The expected India price for Google Pixel Fold is Rs 1,47,000 approx.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra comes with a 3.6-inch OLED display supporting a refresh rate of 144Hz. While the main 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED display supports a refresh rate of 165Hz. The phone is based on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is paired to the 8GB RAM. It offers only one storage variant of 256GB. It is also equipped with a dual camera setup consisting of a 12MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide lens. The phone has a selfie camera of 32MP. The device is powered by a 3,800mAh battery supporting 30W charging. Moto Razr 40 Ultra was launched in China at a starting price of CNY 5,699 (around Rs 66,000).

Samsung is reportedly organising their annual Unpacked event on July 26, where they are expected to launch the new Galaxy Z Fold 5. The new generation of the Samsung flagship device is expected to be thinner than its predecessor while offering the same 6.2-inch cover display and 7.6-inch primary display. The latest device is expected to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Talking about the camera, Samsung is not expected to attach their latest 200MP lens to the new foldable flagships. Instead, they might offer some new image sensors on the existing triple camera setup (50MP + 12MP + 10MP), which might enhance the picture quality. The foldable phone is expected to be priced at around Rs 1,60,000.
