Linking your PAN card with Aadhaar card is important for several financial transactions in India. The process is simple, quick and can be done online
In order to use some critical government services, you need to link your PAN and Aadhaar. This includes services like tax filing, claiming subsidies and it is also helpful in opening bank accounts
Go to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/. This is the official website for the Income Tax Department of India
If you are a new user, register on the website by entering your PAN number as the user ID. If you are an existing user, log in using your PAN number, password and date of birth
After logging in, you will be prompted to link your PAN and Aadhaar. If the prompt doesn't appear, go to the "Profile Settings" option on the menu bar and click on "Link Aadhaar"
The details mentioned on the screen will already be pre-filled based on your PAN card. Verify the details with your Aadhaar card, such as name, date of birth, and gender
If there is any mismatch in the details, you will need to correct it in either the PAN card or Aadhaar card. The process of correction can be done on the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) website
Once the details match, enter your Aadhaar number and click on the "Link now" button
You will receive a pop-up message informing you that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to your PAN
You can also visit the UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL) or the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) website to link your PAN card and Aadhaar card
