Ever since the boom of ChatGPT, people have been using Artificial Intelligence tools to write emails, assignments or even cover letters. But often people forget to proofread it, which leads to embarrassing mistakes.

Recently, a cover letter has been going viral on social media in which the applicant forgot to mention the company’s name and instead kept it as the code ‘[companyName, fallback=]’.

The mistake of not changing the company name revealed that the person had used an automated template to write his letter. What was more embarrassing was that the letter mentions the applicant as an IIT graduate.

Automated letter

The letter claims that Akhil is a software engineer with experience of GoLang, C++ and Java Script.

Akhil’s Experience

A user on Twitter shared the letter while captioning it, “Hi, IIT graduate Akhil. Your code didn’t work. Sincerely, [companyName, fallback=]”

Another user supported Akhil as he wrote, “I’d give him a chance for using code instead of mail merge etc.” Another comment read, “He didn’t fail. You reverted him and that’s what he wanted. Few understand.”

“I’d give him a chance”

Earlier in April, another such tweet went viral when a user posted a picture of an essay, which mentioned in the first line that it was written by an AI tool.

People had various reactions to the essay, as one user wrote, “If someone’s lazy, even an AI won’t help.” While another user blamed the teachers by writing, “Let's be honest though: there is a 'non-zero' number of cases where teachers are using ChatGPT to mark homework that students use ChatGPT to create... It's like replying feedback to your own tweet.”
