Japanese automobile company Aspark’s Owl EV Hypercar broke two Guinness World Records last month. The company which made the car is called Aspark Co. Ltd. The car was being driven by Italian race driver Giuseppe Cartia.
Italian driver Cartia broke the records – “fastest average speed over an eighth mile by an electric car” and the “fastest average speed over a quarter mile by an electric car.”
For the eight mile record, Owl EV clocked a speed of 309.027 kmph (192.02 mph) and for the quarter-mile record, it clocked a speed of 318.857 kmph (198.128 mph). The test was conducted at the Elvington Airfield in the UK.
Specialists from the United Kingdom and International Independent Adjudication Ltd (UK&ITA) verified these records as they minutely calculated the car’s speed using a number of special equipment. After the verification of these records, the Guinness World Records adjudicators gave the certificates to Aspark CEO Masanori Yoshida and driver Giuseppe Cartia.
Aspark Owl EV has been in development for eight years and is the most expensive electric car in the world as of today. Aspark Co. was founded in 2005 as a Japanese car manufacturing and engineering firm. Owl EV was recently spotted on Monaco streets on its way to the Top Marques Monaco car show.
Top Marques Monaco 2023, the annual car show of Monaco, is the world’s most exclusive car show, where some of the world’s most expensive ICE cars and EVs are displayed. It was hosted from June 7 to June 11 this year and Aspark displayed its Owl EV Hypercar at the show
Aspark will sell this car in Europe to only two dealerships -Absolut Cars Consulting, who will sell the car in Monaco, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, while the second is VVS, Aspark’s first UK dealer.
Owl EV Hypercar is equipped with “the most powerful 4 electric motors ever made,” producing a combined output of 1,980 bhp. The combined torque from the motors is 1,920 Nm which puts its top speed at 418kmph. Plus, the car offers a 400 km range in one charge. The car can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.72 seconds.
Owl EV Hypercar is the world’s most expensive EV of the world with a starting price of $3.5 million (over Rs 28 crore approx.), as per Robb Report
