Google Research India Director Manish Gupta during the session ‘AI for India: Inclusive AI. Developing An AI-Ready Culture. R&D and Innovation’, spoke about Google Bard, AI language models and other initiatives that the Google lab is undertaking in India, in a conversation with Business Today Technology Editor Aayush Ailawadi
Google Research India’s Manish Gupta spoke about the work Google is undertaking at its research lab when it comes to leveraging technology like AI for good. He said, “AI has enormous potential to benefit humanity. We wish to bring its benefits to the underprivileged. We organised workshops and identified problems and funded some impactful efforts.”
“We are now working on a model which will support over 100 Indian languages. Some of these models are beginning to make their way into some of the Google products, not just existing products like Assistant, but also upcoming products like Bard,” said Manish Gupta, Director at Google Research India
Aayush Ailawadi said that Google Bard can prove to be a game changer even in places where ChatGPT has not managed to find success yet. Talking about the Google AI-chatbot, Manish Gupta said that Google has already started to integrate some of the capabilities of Bard with its traditional strength in ‘search’. He added that information is being provided but grounded in real facts
Barnik Chitran Maitra, Managing Partner of Arthur D. Little India & South Asia, delivered a keynote address at Tech Today Congress 2023, where he spoke about the evolution of metaverse and the future of ‘Digital Bharat’ among other things
Barnik Chitran Maitra pointed out two major changes brought forth in the technology sector post-COVID-19 pandemic. He said, “Since the pandemic, there are two changes in the world of technology, these are the evolution of metaverse and Web3 which started with the crypto revolution."
While commenting on the newly-launched Open Network for Digital Commerce, "ONDC in a way is representing a way of decentralising the internet at least in terms of decentralising e-commerce."
Barnik Maitra said that efforts are being made towards the democratisation of the internet by giving more power to content creators. "Data will be de-centralised as more Web 3.0 applications will come in. The addressable market of the Metaverse is estimated to be between $5 trillion and $30 trillion by 2030,” added Maitra
