WhatsApp features expected to roll out soon

WhatsApp is expected to introduce several new features for its Android and iOS users to give them a better chat experience. These features include account restriction, manage chat storage filters, hidden community group chats and more. Here’s all you need to know about these rumoured WhatsApp features

Account restriction

WhatsApp is expected to roll out a new ‘account restriction’ feature for its users that will limit the restricted account users from sending messages. If a users’ account is restricted on the platform, they will not be able to initiate chats from their end as a temporary penalty. However, they will still be able to receive text messages and respond to them. WhatsApp is planning to restrict users temporarily instead of outright banning them.

Manage chat storage filters

To make the phone storage management simpler, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new ‘manage chat storage filter’. It will allow users to differentiate between different kinds of content. The feature will allow WhatsApp users to identify conversation from specific types of accounts and enable them to manage data effectively. It will also prevent accidental deletion or mismanagement of critical information

Filter feature

WhatsApp is also rumored to introduce a new ‘Filter’ feature. It is designed to simplify navigation within the app's chats tab. It will enable users to swiftly compile a list of their favourite contacts and groups, allowing for easy access and prioritisation of important conversations. WhatsApp aims to revolutionise the way users interact with their chats with this feature.

Hidden community group chats

To hide certain WhatsApp community group chats, you might soon start seeing a new icon in front of the group name. This will help members identify the groups at a glance. This feature will allow them to hide these chats for some time and read them later. It is expected that the WhatsApp might later display the community that particular hidden group belongs to

Reaction for images, videos

WhatsApp is likely to roll out a new feature where users will be able to react to a media file in an easier way. Currently, user has to long press on the video/images or reply to them to react to them in a chat. With the new feature, users will see a bar at the bottom of the image/video where you can directly react on the media file

Quick reaction for status

WhatsApp is expected to introduce a new 'quick reaction feature for status updates' feature that will allow users to swiftly react to status updates. These reactions will manifest directly on the status screen, providing an intuitive way for users to engage with the updates of their contacts
