With Adobe’s interactive digital dress and Nothing Apparel’s ‘uniform’, tech companies are introducing tech and design sensibilities into the ever-evolving world of fashion

Fashion gets the tech edge

At Adobe MAX 2023, the tech company featured MAX Sneaks session, where generative AI, cutting-edge and experimental technologies were showcased in features that could become part of Adobe products

To change designs on Adobe’s interactive dress, a button can be pressed. However, as the interactive dress comes with embedded sensors, movements can also trigger the dress to respond and showcase designs

Fluid designs on Adobe’s interactive dress

Project Primrose was presented by Christine Dierk, a research scientist at Adobe, who led her team to create the interactive dress. “Fashion doesn’t have to be static, it can be dynamic and even interactive,” said Dierk

Designers can layer this technology into clothing, furniture, and other surfaces to unlock infinite style possibilities — such as the ability to download and wear the latest design from a favourite designer

CEO Carl Pei-led Nothing has now introduced Nothing apparel, which it dubs as “a uniform for the designers, engineers. The creators”. The tech company is attempting to redefine workwear in line with “Nothing’s design ethos in textile form”. The official website describes the yet-to-be-launched workwear as “inspired by our hardware, classic factory wear and our unmistakable visual identity”
