Bill Gates lent his hand in cooking millet khichdi along with Smriti Irani in a bid to support the government's efforts to promote the cultivation and consumption of millets, which is considered a superfood, as India is leading the initiatives for the International Year of Millets 2023
Union Minister Smriti Irani tweeted, “Recognising the Super Food of India and its POSHAN component… When Bill Gates gave tadka to Shree Ann Khichdi!”
In the video, the two leaders can be seen cooking the Indian dish khichdi as Bill Gates stirred the food while tempering it with the help of Smriti Irani
Bill Gates praised the government’s initiative as he said, “India is making strong progress toward a healthier future for women and children through POSHAN 2.0 with a focus on data & monitoring.”
Smriti Irani also talked about how different government initiatives such as “POSHAN, Jan Dhan, Ayushman Bharat have transformed the lives of millions of women in India”
Bill Gates met several prominent personalities such as RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, Chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra Anand Mahindra, emeritus Chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Tata and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar among others
Apart from the government and business leaders, Bill Gates met social media influencer and Mismatched actor Prajakta Koli, who had also represented India at the World Economic Forum at Davos as part of a special delegation
