Adani Foundation, part of billionaire Gautam Adani’s conglomerate Adani Group, helped to airlift Anurag Maloo, an injured mountaineer, from Kathmandu to AIIMS Delhi for better medical treatment
Mountaineer Anurag Maloo went missing on April 17 after falling from an altitude of 5,800 metres while climbing down from Camp III on Mount Annapurna
Anurag Maloo survived in the avalanche-prone crevasse for three days before being rescued on the morning of April 20. He was found in a critical situation and was taken to a nearby medical camp, then to a hospital in Pokhara and later to a hospital in Nepal’s capital city Kathmandu
Anurag Maloo’s family requested the Adani Foundation for assistance to arrange and bear the cost of the airlift and ground transfer from Nepal to India as the cost seemed to be beyond their means. Adani Foundation arranged for an air ambulance
Anurag Maloo was airlifted from Kathmandu and brought to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for treatment
Anurag Maloo’s brother Ashish thanked Adani Foundation for their prompt response. He tweeted, “Grateful beyond words for the timely airlifting! Heartfelt thanks to Gautam Adani and Adani Foundation for their invaluable support in repatriating Anurag Maloo safely.”
Gautam Adani responded while tweeting, “Priti (Gautam Adani’s wife) and I are privileged to be of help. We are happy to learn that Anurag is safe and we are praying for his speedy recovery. We are confident that he will soon be ready to conquer more of life's peaks.”
