An 11-year-old child was forced to play video games continuously for 17 hours after his father caught him playing on his phone while on the bed
The boy from Shenzhen, China, was reportedly forced by his father named Huang to play video games for straight 11 hours “until he vomited”
Huang also filmed the entire incident and shared it on the Chinese version of TikTok - Douyin. It also showed how he shook his child to keep him awake
The boy also wrote a note to his father saying, “So my dad found out. Then he punished me. Let me play enough. Play until vomit. I promise I must go to bed before 11 o'clock"
The father called off punishment when his son broke down in tears. He said that his method was effective but he won’t advise fellow parents to follow him
His video has garnered mixed reactions. One user said, "As a game publisher, I approve his punishment” while another said, “I think the punishment was harsh"
China has been grappling with increasing addiction to video games.. In 2021, China introduced a law to curb the use of video games
Amid the problem of video game addiction, China approved 27 foreign video games, including titles to be released by Tencent
