Mandeep Kaur aka 'Daaku Haseena' accused of robbery worth Rs 8 crore 49 lakh has been nabbed by the Punjab Police. Notably, it was a drink worth Rs 10, which led to her arrest
Mandeep Kaur and her husband Jaswinder Singh were arrested at Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand's Chamoli. As per reports, they were there to offer their prayers after they successfully committed the crime
Punjab Police had received a tip-off that Mandeep Kaur and her husband Jaswinder Singh were planning to flee to Nepal. They had also planned to visit Haridwar, Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib on their way to the neighbouring country
A huge number of devotees were visiting Hemkund Sahib hence it was difficult for the police to identify the two accused. The police set up a free drink service for the pilgrims. As soon as the couple approached the counter and removed their face mask to sip the drinks, the cops dressed up in plain clothes identified them
The couple was not arrested immediately; they were allowed to pray at Hemkund Sahib, and the police then chased them from a distance. The entire operation was named 'Let's catch the queen bee'
As per a statement by Ludhiana Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Rs 12 lakh was recovered from Mandeep Kaur's two-wheeler, and Rs 9 lakh from her husband Jaswinder Singh's Barnala house
Mandeep Kaur was accused of Rs 8.49 crore robbery in Ludhiana. As per reports, she had held five employees of the CMS Securities company captive inside the office at New Rajguru Nagar locality
Mandeep Kaur earlier worked as an insurance agent and had raised multiple loans. She had also assisted a lawyer in the past. Mandeep married Jaswinder Singh in February this year
Apart from the couple, police also arrested another accused named Gaurav, who was hiding in Punjab’s Gidderbaha. So far, police have arrested 9 out of the 12 people accused in the case
