Dahi puri, Papri chaat, Egg bhurji and many other popular dishes have been included in the list of worst-rated Indian street foods. The list surprised netizens by featuring some iconic (or so we thought) and beloved street foods. TasteAtlas is a travel online guide for traditional food.

Topping the list is Maharashtra’s Dahi puri, a variant of pani puri, filled with fresh curd, potatoes, chaat masala, onions, and a variety of chutneys.

Sev, originating in Madhya Pradesh, is very popular too but has topped the list by bagging the No.2 position in the list of worst-rated Indian street food.

While it mainly originated in Gujarat's Kutch, Dabeli is also enjoyed in other parts of the country. This snack is a combination of pav buns and a filling made with mashed potatoes and a mixture of spices including coriander, peanuts, sev, fennel seeds, and chili peppers.

This snack is an offering from Mumbai, and hence the name. There are several types of Bombay sandwiches and it is made with many chutneys, along with a slathering of white butter between the breads, and a spice mixture.

Also known as anda bhurji, this common dish comes with many variations.  Scrambled eggs are mixed with veggies and spices for this wholesome dish popular all over the country. But this dish too, alas, has been named in the worst-rated street food list.

A famous north Indian snack mainly served as an accompaniment, Dahi vada is made of lentil-based fried balls, dipped in curd with a combination of chutneys, and spices. This dish is popular in weddings, festive occasions and is a refreshment on a hot summer day.

Not only are sabudana vadas a popular street food, this is a fasting snack too. Coming from Maharashtra, these fritters are made up of soaked sago, mashed potatoes, crushed peanuts, and a combination of spices such as turmeric, chili, ginger, and fresh coriander. Sabudana vada fritters can be found at many stalls throughout Maharashtra and are especially popular in Mumbai.

Chaats are synonymous with street food in India. And Papri chaat is one of the most popular variations. Prepared from deep fried wafers, potatoes , chutneys, spices, this is a snack preferred by most people.

Gobi paranthas are flatbreads with stuffing of spiced cauliflower fried on both sides and served with curd, raita or Indian pickles. This dish comes from Punjab, North India.
