PM Modi virtually inaugurated the new Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express today (May 25). It is the first such semi high-speed train for the state of Uttarakhand. PM Modi mentioned the same during inauguration, “Uttarakhand is getting its first Vande Bharat Express today from Dehradun to Delhi. This train will reduce the travelling time of the people.”
The new Vande Bharat inauguration took place at the Dehradun Railway Station. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present at the venue of inauguration.
The new semi high-speed train, number 22457 will start its regular run from May 29, 2023. The train will leave Dehradun at 7 am and reach Delhi’s Anand Vihar railway station by 11:45 am. It will leave from Anand Vihar station in the evening at 5:50 pm and reach Dehradun at 10:35 pm.
The latest Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 302 kms in 4 hours and 45 minutes. It usually takes 6 hours and 10 minutes for the Shatabdi Express to cover the same distance.
Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat will have five stops on its 302 kms route - Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee and Haridwar.
PM Modi also mentioned his recent tri-nation country visit saying that the world wants to visit India to understand the essence of our nation. He said, “In such a situation, there are excellent opportunities for states like Uttarakhand. Vande Bharat train is also going to help Uttarakhand to take full advantage of this opportunity.”
Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat train is the sixth Vande Bharat Express connecting the capital with different parts of the country. Till now, the semi high-speed train has connected Delhi with Ajmer, Varanasi, Katra, Bhopal, and Amb Andaura in Himachal Pradesh. Also, this is the first Vande Bharat Express for Uttarakhand.
Vande Bharat Express trains are equipped with world-class amenities. It also has advanced safety features, including the Kavach technology.
The ticket prices of the newly inaugurated Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat train are Rs 1065 for AC Chair Car and Rs 1890 for the Executive Chair Car.
