Maharashtra-based farmer Prakash Imde has built a house worth Rs 1 crore just by selling cow milk
As per a report by India Today, Imde who is fondly known as Bapu by the locals, started out with just a single cow, which he bought from a mandi and started selling cow milk
Prakash Imde used to work on 4 acres of ancestral land earlier. However, the land was a dry patch and he was unable to cultivate crops on it. He then left farming and moved to the dairy industry. In 1998, he started selling cow milk, and cow dung. Initially, he used to sell them only to the locals and slowly started expanding beyond his village, Sangola
Today, Prakash runs a dairy farm with over 150 cows. They currently produce 1,000 litres of milk a day. His entire family is involved in the business managing milking of cows, feeding them and maintaining their upkeep. He named his first cow Lakshmi
Lakshmi passed away in 2006 after which Prakash placed her image in his house. He starts his day by offering prayers to her. Lakshmi had given birth to a few calves which were then taken care of by the farmer. Even today, his business relies on the same lineage of cattle
As per the report, Imde started employing people from his own village to handle the business and after years of hard work, he managed to accumulate enough wealth to buy a house worth Rs 1 crore
Prakash’s business has now become a case study. He produces the fodder for the cattle on his own farm and buys the rest of it from outside. As per the report, the cows need around 4-5 tonnes of green fodder per day
People from different states come to visit his farm and build an understanding of his business. Prakash also conducts field trips for the visitors
