Hollywood actress Sharon Stone, known for movies like Basic Instinct and Casino, is currently showcasing her latest art exhibition, titled ‘Sharon Stone: Welcome To My Garden’ at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut. On view until December 3, the gallery showcases the new facet of the renowned figure's creative expression, bringing Stone's visual narratives to a fresh audience.
The exhibition features a collection of 19 original paintings by Sharon Stone, marking the first occasion her artwork is displayed beyond Los Angeles. Art enthusiasts and the general public alike will get an exclusive look into Stone’s creative realm.
Earlier in March this year, the Hollywood actress made her debut as an artist with her first solo gallery exhibition ‘Shedding’ at the Allouche Gallery in Los Angeles. Her painting Shedding, which lends its name to the exhibition itself and The River (2022) were some of the art work showcased at her debut exhibition. Stone painted the latter after her 11-month-old nephew passed away
Painting has been a lifelong passion for Stone, rooted in her childhood experiences with her Aunt Vonne. In her early years, her Aunt Vonne, who had a Master’s degree in painting, would create murals across the walls of the home where she lived as a child. This early exposure laid the foundation for Stone's extensive engagement with art as a medium of expression.
Sharon Stone studied painting in college, and her artmaking became a central focus during the Covid-19 pandemic. As Stone ventured deeper into her artistic channels, she let her creative instincts flow onto the canvas. Since then, she paints every day for four to 17 hours.
Talking about her latest art exhibition ‘Sharon Stone: Welcome To My Garden’, the actress said, “I created these works to understand the essence of pure creativity that comes from heartfelt truth, to let go of the noise, the judgements, and the pollution of our societal pulls.”
Most of her artwork features nature and a visual vibrancy. “Color becomes a wavelength for me… Being a colorist moves the directions of my paintings. Color speaks to me,” said Sharon Stone.
Earlier, Sharon Stone shared glimpses from her creative process on Instagram, which featured some of her latest artwork with snapshots of her painting on big canvases.
Sharon Stone’s artistry has garnered high praise from notable figures in the art world, including the esteemed Jerry Saltz, Senior Art Critic for New York Magazine and Pulitzer Prize winner for Criticism. “This new exhibition offers a never-before-seen panorama into Sharon Stone’s creative prowess. The artist invites viewers on a journey through the vibrant landscapes of her imagination, reflecting her inner world. A testament to Stone’s profound talents,” said Tiffany Benincasa, the owner and curator of the C. Parker Gallery.
