By leading the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his song Like Crazy, Jimin has become the first member of the South Korean pop group BTS (Bangtan Soneyondan) to rank no 1 on the chart. He is also the first South Korean solo artist to lead the list

In the absence of radio play, BTS ARMY managed to propel the song 'Like Crazy' through sales. The song was released last month on March 24 on Jimin’s debut solo set FACE, which entered at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart

Despite being loved by the massive BTS ARMY fandom, and the general public with versions in both Korean and English languages, 'Like Crazy', a synth-pop genre song, missed love from US Radio channels with its airplay audience being the lowest for a Hot 100 No. 1 this decade

According to Billboard data, Jimin's “Like Crazy” sold 254,000 song downloads and CD singles combined and drew 10 million streams and 64,000 radio airplay audience impressions in its first week

The sales sum for “Like Crazy” is the highest in a single week since Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” sold 328,000 in November last year, according to Billboard and the song also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart, where it’s Jimin’s third appearance, and No. 35 on Streaming Songs, where the pop star makes his first appearance

Jimin breaking records

The BTS ARMY made Jimin topping the charts in the world’s biggest music market look easy with their impressive sales. However, it is an extremely difficult feat to pull off. The fan group's effort helped Jimin become the second Korean act overall, behind only his own group BTS and their six No. 1’s that have topped the Hot 100 chart

Jimin is the first South Korean soloist to hit No. 1, surpassing PSY, who reached a No. 2 best with his iconic song “Gangnam Style” for seven weeks in 2012. With ‘Like Crazy’, BTS leader Kim Namjoon, known as RM, got his fourth No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as a songwriter
