Google Doodle on Wednesday celebrated one of India's most favourite snacks -- gol gappa aka pani puri or phuchka.
The new Google Doodle is celebrating the world record for most number of flavours of pani puri water served by a restaurant. On July 12, 2015, a restaurant named Indori Zayka in Indore, Madhya Pradesh offered 51 options for pani puri water, thus making a world record
Now Google has celebrated this achievement in the form of a Google Doodle, accompanied by a Google Doodle game. People have to "serve" as many pani puris as they can as per the order of the customers before the time runs out. There are two game modes - Relaxed and Timed

As the legend goes -- Kunti gave Draupadi some leftover vegetables and enough dough to make one puri. This is when Draupadi created one of the first versions of pani puri or gol gappa. The craze for Pani Puri can be gauged by the increasing number of start-ups formed around it. Recently, a 22-year-old girl BTech graduate Tapsi Upadhyay, started her own Gol Gappa stall by the name, BTech pani puri wali at Tilak Nagar metro station. Her shop went viral due to its unique name.
"Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists," says Google on its website.
