The IndianOil Grand Prix of India is set to be hosted by MotoGP Bharat at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The three-day MotoGP race weekend, a first in India, will begin on Friday, September 22, and end with the main Grand Prix race on Sunday.
The race weekend will begin on September 22 with the first practice session scheduled at 4 pm IST. The second practice session will begin on September 23 at 10:40 am IST.
The qualifying sessions for the main race on September 24 will begin a day before, immediately after the second practice session. The first qualifying race will begin at 11:20 am on Saturday followed by the second qualifying race at 11:45 am. The Sprint session, sponsored by Tissot, is scheduled for 3:30 pm on Saturday.
The race day will begin with a 10-minute warm-up session at 11:10 am. The main event of the weekend will begin at 3:30 pm on Sunday.
The bike-racing sport is divided into four classes – MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE. The bikes in MotoGP use a 1,000cc engine with a top speed of 360kmph, while the bikes in Moto2 use a 765cc engine with a top speed of upto 300kmph. Moto3 uses 250cc bikes, which have a top speed of 240 kmph and MotoE is electric bike racing. Races for all classes will be held at the Budhh circuit within the three days.
The official ticketing partner of MotoGP Bharat is BookMyShow and tickets are available on its official website. The price of tickets starts from Rs 800 and goes up to Rs 1,80,000. Most of the lower priced tickets have been sold out already.
The Buddh International Circuit has previously hosted Formula One races as well. The total distance of one lap on the circuit is 4.96 kilometres. In the main race, riders will do 24 laps of the circuit riding a total of 118.97 kilometres. The track has five left and eight right corners along with the longest straight stretch of 1,006 metres. The width of the track is 12 metres.
Apart from watching the race from the stands, people can also catch the live telecast on Sports18 channel while the live streaming will be available on JioCinema.
Fairstreet Sports have signed the Indian Oil Corporation as its title sponsor while brands like KTM, Yamaha, Honda, Michelin, Ducati and Aprilia are industry partners. The sponsors for the three day event are Ola, Red Bull, 24Seven, Rogers and Mirchi FM.
The MotoGP has been organised by Dorna Sports since 1991, however, in India, Fairstreet Sports has bought the organising rights from Dorna for a period of seven years. Fairstreet Sports will organise the international racing sport in the country till 2029.
