A bullock cart race was organised at Thottichi Amman Temple in Ramanathapuram on the occasion of Panguni Pongal Utsav
Around 18 bullock carts participated in the race. Two bulls were attached to one cart as their controllers, usually the local farmers, led them ahead
As per reports, Panguni Pongal is celebrated to celebrate the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati
The Bullock Cart Race was organised in two categories:
- Small bullock carts had to cover a distance of 10 miles
- Big bullock carts had to cover a distance of 12 miles
