On Sunday, a video of five teachers crying and calling out edtech unicorn PhysicsWallah (PW) went viral. Here is what has happened so far

How it all started

Tarun Kumar, Aditya Anand, Manish Dubey, Sarvesh Dixit, Siddhartha Misra resigned from the company on March 3. They were accused of taking bribes worth Rs 5 crore from a rival edtech company Adda247 to quit the PW and join the latter

A tale of allegations

They also accused their former colleague at PW, Pankaj Sijairya, of spreading false rumours and targeting them. In the video, the teachers revealed that PW’s aim of providing good, affordable education eventually shifted after it became bigger

Moving away from

After quitting the start-up, the teachers launched their own YouTube channel named 'Sankalp.' But PW has made their life very difficult, they claimed

Story not over yet

Business Today reached out to PhysicsWallah for a comment. The company responded back by calling the whole episode a “distraction"

PW responds

“In any organisation, individuals join and leave in due course, and PW is immune to this natural progression. Some teachers have indeed left our organisation, and we value and respect their contributions to education and our growth journey,” PW’s statement to BT read

What PhysicsWallah said

The teachers also accused PhysicsWallah of deploying tactics such as striking down their channel to destroy their careers. PW did not respond to these claims

Story doesn’t end here

According to a report by Moneycontrol, Adda247 has allegedly spent Rs 100 crore to poach those teachers from PW. The report also stated that Sankalp could actually be Adda247’s product
