Prabhas-starrer Adipurush has released today (June 16) on over 6,200 screens in India, which includes 4,000 screens for the Hindi version. It has been released in both 2D and 3D versions
The film depicts Prabhas as Lord Ram or Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Sita or Janaki, Saif Ali Khan as Ravana or Lankesh, Devdatta Nage as Hanuman or Bajrang and Sunny Singh as Lakshmana
Adipurush ticket price crossed Rs 2,000 in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. In Delhi, one ticket for the movie is priced at Rs 2200 in PVR Directors Cut, Ambience Mall, according to BookMyShow
The initial reviews of Adipurush are in. Most Twitter users are hailing the film’s plot and calling it a family entertainer. One of them tweeted, “Watched Adipurush in Hindi, brilliant story, music, Prabhas is decent, direction is okay, VFX seems work in progress, Adipurush is a family entertainer.”
Film critic Vishwajit Patil tweeted, “Adipurush is a king-sized disappointment, bad VFX, low on content- first half nosedives… Adipurush could’ve been a game changer, but, alas, it’s a missed opportunity… All gloss, no soul. Prabhas’ worst performance.”
As of Thursday night, Adipurush had sold around 3 lakh tickets worth over Rs 25 crore in advance bookings for its opening day, across all languages. This is the fourth-highest advance booking number for all Indian films post-pandemic, the other prominent films being:-

- Ponniyin Selvan 1 (Rs 15.82 crore)
- KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 80.30 crore)

Analysts covering PVR Inox are positive on the stock, considering the high number of footfalls and advance booking for the epic-drama based on Lord Rama and his 14-year exile. They are pinning high hopes on the movie can and say that the cash registers might be ringing for the company in Q1 FY24
Adipurush’s Hindi version is expected to mint around Rs 30 crore on Friday whereas its Telugu and Kannada versions are likely to rake in around Rs 60 crore
While Adipurush is expected to collect around Rs 30 crore at the ticket counters, RRR minted Rs 23.35 crore on its opening day. It is yet to be seen if Om Raut-directorial be able to compete against the SS Rajamouli-directorial
