The much-awaited film starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone made its debut at the San Diego Comic Con on Thursday. The title of the film, which was known as Project K, was finally revealed as Kalki 2898 AD. The teaser of the film, also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan, was released at the global event.
The teaser of the film was launched by Prabhas and Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan. The duo introduced the film at the event titled: This is Project K: First Glimpse of India’s Mytho-Sci-fi Epic.
The makers of the film dropped the first look poster of superstar Prabhas on Wednesday, a day before the event. The poster received backlash on social media due to its incomplete and unrealistic graphics.
Due to the backlash, Vyjayanthi Movies who are backing this humongous project, deleted the poster and then posted a new one with a brighter image and changed background. Some fans found the graphics to be better as well.
The teaser of the film shows Deepika Padukone as an army recruit for the dark forces.
The first look of Amitabh Bachchan’s character is still incomplete as in the teaser, he is completely covered in bandages.
Notably, Kamal Haasan was missing in the 1 minute 16 seconds long teaser. Haasan joined the star cast earlier this year.
Apart from the four superstars of the Indian film industry, the film also features Disha Patani in an important role. Dulquer Salman and Rana Daggubati are also a part of this magnum opus.
The film has been directed by Nag Ashwin, known for the 2018 film ‘Mahanati’ based on the life of actress Savitri. Kalki 2898 AD has been reportedly made on a massive budget of Rs 600 crore.
The multilingual sci-fi film will release on January 12, 2024 just months after the release of Salaar, Prabhas’ film with KGF fame Prasanth Neel.
