N.R. Narayana Murthy
N.R. Narayana Murthy articulated, designed and implemented the global delivery model which has become the foundation for the success of Indian IT services. He founded Bangalore-based global software consulting company Infosys Ltd, and served as its CEO from 1981 to 2002, as chairman and chief mentor from 1981 to 2011, and as chairman emeritus from August 2011 to May 2013. Now he is Executive Chairman. Under his leadership, Infosys was listed on the NASDAQ in 1999. He is an IT advisor to several Asian countries. He serves on the boards of the Ford Foundation, Rhodes Trust, Indian School of Business, and UN Foundation. Besides the boards of companies such as HSBC and Unilever, he has held positions on leading IT and educational institutions in India and other countries. Fortune magazine named him among the “12 greatest entrepreneurs of our time” in 2012. The Economist ranked him among the 10 most admired global business leaders in 2005. He has received the Padma Vibhushan from the Indian government, the Légion d'honneur from France, and a CBE from the UK.
