India, the world's largest democracy, has kicked off the largest elections world has ever witnessed. In total, there are 89.9 crore voters who will cast their vote from over 2,354 registered political parties represented by over 8,000 candidates to win their claim over 543 Lok Sabha seats. The 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will be conducted in 7 phases.

The first phase of Lok Sabha elections, which took place on April 11, witnessed a voter turnout of 69.43 per cent. A total of 91 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 18 states and 2 Union Territories went for polls in the first phase.

Polling for the second phase will take place on Thursday April 18, 2019. Out of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies of the country, 95 constituencies, spread over 12 States and Union Territories, will go to polls in the second phase.

Polling will be held in 38 constituencies of Tamil Nadu (Vellore polling cancelled due to casg recovery by EC), 14 in Karnataka; 10 in Maharashtra; 8 in Uttar Pradesh. Other parliamentary constituencies where polling will be held in the second phase are: 5 each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha; 3 each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal; 2 in Jammu and Kashmir and 1 each in Manipur, Tripura and Puducherry.

In the second phase there are 15.52 crore voters, out of which 7.89 crore are male, 7.63 crore voters are female and 11,030 voters are of third gender.
