Gaming review: Grand Theft Auto V is strictly for adults

Grand Theft Auto V

If you want to take a crash course on how to become a criminal, then Rockstar's much-awaited Grand Theft Auto V is the game for you. This edition also takes open world gaming to a whole new level.
The game is based in the city of Los Santos, which bears more than a passing resemblance to Los Angeles. GTA V has three central characters in Michael, Franklin and Trevor. Franklin is starting afresh and is looking to make some real quick money. Michael is a rich middle-aged man who is bored after having left his old life of crime behind. Trevor is the real rotten apple in every sense. When the three meet, it is chaos and a rush of adrenaline.
The game play is dynamic, superbly rendered on the PS3. The way it switches characters is just a sight to watch. Though slow, the inter cuts are worth the wait. The car radio has also improved a lot with some hit numbers integrated.
The controls remain the same, but every player will have to work on the strengths of their characters. To make Michael, Franklin and Trevor fit and improve their skills, you'll have to make them go for a run, cycle or play tennis. A regular visit to the shooting range will help them gun down resistance more efficiently. You keep working on their physical as well as mental health to strengthen their competence.
The heists need planning before they can be executed and the game gives you a choice to be strategic in your approach or do an old school smash and grab job. Law authorities are unforgiving and even if you get a 1-star wanted rating, they will shoot you. The game is worth every penny that you spend on it. Weapon choices are plenty and if you have $1,00,000 you will never run out of ammo. From snipers, to semi-automatics, to assault rifles, to high precision pistols and even RPGs, GTA V has it all. If this is the costliest game ever made, that shows in the game all through.
Personally, GTA V was a joy to play and every day I just wanted to go home early to play the game. My sleep patterns have also been disturbed completely. That is how addictive the game is.
But this game is strictly for adults only.
