Gone are the days of cheap air travel in India. After the recent spike in ticket prices of low-cost airlines by 8-10 per cent, a lot of people who until recently flew by these carriers are now finding it cheaper to travel by train. Result: passenger traffic fell by 5 per cent in September compared to last year.
Says S. Sridharan, CCO, SpiceJet: “As of now, there is no ticket for less than Rs 2,000; travellers are being forced to go back to trains.”
