Assets Under Management of Indian mutual fund industry increase 1.4%

Assets Under Management (AUMs) of the Indian mutual fund industry increased by 1.4 per cent sequentially to reach Rs 27.5 lakh crore in August 2020. Compared with August 2019, the industry rose by 7.9 per cent translating to an asset base addition of Rs 2 lakh crore.

Debt schemes accounted for the largest share of AUMs at 50.5 per cent. Out of the net assets of Rs 13.9 lakh crore of debt AUMs, liquid funds continue to have the largest share at 31 per cent.

Equity schemes have the largest number of folios at approximately 638 lakh, which constitute nearly 70 per cent share of the total number of folios. Equity schemes accounted for 29 per cent of total AUM in August 2020. Out of Rs 8 lakh crore of equity AUMs, the largest share continues to be of large cap and multi cap funds with a share of 19 per cent and 18 per cent, respectively.

AUMs of hybrid schemes in August 2020 accounted for 11 per cent of the overall AUMs. Hybrid schemes had 96.0 lakh folios in August.

The remaining 9.5 per cent was contributed by solution oriented and other schemes. In August 2020, the total AUM under these schemes was pegged at Rs 2.6 lakh crore.
