Domestic natural gas production declines 12.2% in FY21

Domestic natural gas production has declined sharply by 12.2% during 7M-FY21 as compared with 2.1% fall registered during 7M-FY20. Cumulative fall in production is mainly due to restricted gas off take by consumers due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

Consumption of natural gas fell by 6.5% on a YoY basis during 7M-FY21.

Imports of natural gas in the form of LNG fell by 0.9% as compared with 9.6% increase during 7M-FY20. Import dependency based on consumption has increased to 54.6% during 7M-FY21 as compared to 51.5% during 7M-FY20.

227 CNG refuelling stations have been added during FY21 (April-September). Gujarat leads with 52 new stations, while Uttar Pradesh trails close with 46.

PNG connections have increased by 12.2% during FY21 (April-September). There were 61.09 lakh connections in the start of the fiscal.
