India ranked 94 among 107 nations in the Global Hunger Index 2020. In the Global Hunger Index 2019, it was ranked at 102 out of 117 countries.
India falls behind nations like Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
Only 13 countries like Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Rwanda fared worse than India in this index.
The Index terms hunger levels in India as 'serious' with a score of 27.2 out of 50. This has improved from a score of 29.3 in 2012 compared to 37.5 in 2006 and 38.9 in 2000.
