Third phase of the Indian general elections 2019  has kicked off. In total, there are 89.7 crore voters who will cast their vote for over 2,354 registered political parties represented by over 8,000 candidates to win their claim over 543 Lok Sabha seats. The 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will be conducted in 7 phases.

The first phase of Lok Sabha elections, which took place on April 11, witnessed a voter turnout of 69.45 per cent.  A total of 91 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 20 States and Union Territories went for polls in the first phase. In comparison to 2014 general elections the voter turnout in 2019 improved by 0.68 per cent.

Polling for the second phase took place on April 18, 2019. Out of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies of the country. 97 constituencies, spread over 13 States and Union Territories, went to polls in the second phase. Voter turnout of 69.43 per cent was recorded at the end of Phase 2. In comparison with the 2014 general elections the voter turnout in phase 2 elections saw a fall of 10.34 per cent.

Polling will be held in all 26 constituencies of Gujarat, 20 in Kerala; 14 in Maharashtra; 10 in Uttar Pradesh. Other parliamentary constituencies where polling will be held in the second phase are; 4 seats in Assam, 5 seats in Bihar and 6 seats in Odisha; 7 seats in Chhattisgarh and 5 seats in West Bengal; 1 in Jammu and Kashmir and 1 each in, Tripura, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

In the third phase there are 18.85 crore voters, out of which 9.66 crore are males, 9.19 crore voters are females and 7,043 voters are of third gender.

There are 1,640 candidates contesting from 117 constituencies in the third phase of lok sabha elections 2019. Out of which 99 candidates are from BJP, 94 from BSP, 92 of Congress among others.

2,10,770 polling booths are set up across 15 states and Union Territories covering all 117 constituencies.
