Two of India's biggest superstars Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan continue to be at loggerheads in the box office this week with two of this year's biggest releases. Akshay's Rustom so far has got better returns compared to Hrithik's Mohenjo Daro which still has some catching up to do.
Over the weekend, both films combined amassed Rs 80 crore in the box office, making it the second-highest weekend collection this year. Salman Khan's big Eid release Sultan had collected Rs 180 crore in its opening weekend in July.
Despite earning Rs 30.54 crore in the first three days, Hrithik's Mohenjo Daro is behind Akshay's Rustom which made Rs 50 crore in the same number of days.
Mohenjo Daro earned Rs 8.87 crore on the opening day compared to Rustom which made Rs 14.11 crore on the first day.
Rustom is the winner overseas as well. Mohenjo Daro grossed $800,000 in US / Canada over the weekend while Rustom earned $875,000. In the Gulf, Rustom made $1.1 million approx and Mohenjo Daro $750,000.
