A Big Salute to the Role Models of 2016

This refers to your special edition on women in business (The Most Powerful Women in Business, October 9). You have appropriately highlighted the achievements of the select 30, who have reached glorious heights. They have risen to the top against all odds. You are reminded of the lines coined by William Congreve, an English playwright and poet: "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned." These women were initially not given their due place and respect, but later proved their mettle to reach their exalted positions. Right from the start of their lives, women are asked to play multiple roles in their lives. I believe women are far superior to men because of their strong and robust mental ability to deal with tough situations. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that some of the global women leaders have proved to be immensely successful showing their true grit. To sum it up, this issue will compel your readers to make efforts to excel in their fields and set examples for generations to come. It strongly gives the message that women can stand out in any profession. In any field, women have equal capabilty to excel. In fact, sometimes they prove to be better than men at certain tasks. Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to say that some women have been role models for societies and nations at large. My salute to these women and to the BT team for bringing out an excellent issue.

Women Reign Supreme

This refers to your cover story (The First Ladies' Club, October 9). Unqu- estionably, woman are mentally very tough. They are capable of handling complex and delicate situations competently and with relative ease anywhere, anytime. In this advanced age of information, science and technology, and in this intensely competitive milieu, women have also successfully demonstrated that they are not inferior to men in any way by occupying top slots in various fields. Again, India is one country in the world where women have always enjoyed a pride of place in society. Incidentally, it would be pertinent to make a reference to a quote by well-known feminist G.D. Anderson: "Feminism isn't about making women stronger, women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength." Keep it up.

Pak Must Be Dealt with an Iron Hand

This refers to your article on Indo-Pak trade (October 9). Frequent attacks on Indian soil, resulting in the death of Army personnel and civilians must now come to an end. We must deal with Pakistan with an iron hand. All ties, including business, must come to an end. In 2014, Tata Motors rejected Pakistan's proposal for supplying 380 Tata Sumo Grande vehicles to its police. The company's board turned down the proposal due to Pakistan's involvement in terror strikes against India. Cricket matches between the two countries have also failed to yield the desired results in promoting peace. Pakistan lacks the will to pursue peace with India.

iPhone Mania

This refers to your review of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus (A Notch Above, Oct 9). The iPhone 7 looks almost identical to iPhone 6 and 6S. And the major discomfort of this high-end cellphone is that it does not have the headphone jack. Now you need a dongle, or a pair of Bluetooth headphones instead. No doubt Apple has added many features to it, like water resistance, optical image stabilisation, long-lasting battery, and a faster processor. But is it worth-buying at this high price?Biswaranjan Mishra, Gurgaon
