Toronto, Canada's most populous city has also been named the most multicultural contemporary city in the world. The city, which is home to over 230 different nationalities, has 51% of its residents from outside Canada.
Vancouver, Canada Vancouver, for a very long period, has enjoyed the reputation of being the most liveable city from 2002 to 2010, and again in 2015.The city still boasts a very high liveability score of 97.3 despite falling short in a few areas. It has achieved perfect scores in healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
Osaka, Japan Osaka has slipped from third to fourth place this year- but it didn't make it into the top 10 until 2018, when there was a decline in crime rates and an overall improvement in the quality of transportation. The port city is the second largest metropolitan area after Tokyo and is one of Japan's economic powerhouses.
Melbourne, Australia Melbourne topped the "Global Liveability Index" for seven years before being beaten by Vienna in 2018. It has scored second position with a score of 98.4. But it has managed to score 100 in healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
Vienna, Austria Vienna is the world's most liveable city, again topping the index with an overall rating of 99.1 out of 100. It has been named the most liveable city for the second consecutive year in a row and has consistently scored high in all similar surveys. Green spaces, coffee shops and a laid-back culture make the city perfect for settling down in.
