Audi India launched the Audi RS 6 Avant sports car in India on Thursday. The car, priced at Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom New Delhi and Mumbai), will be brought in India as a completely built unit (CBU).
The Audi RS 6 Avant has a 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with a capacity of 3,993 CC, which develops 560 hp. The car can achieve a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 305 km/h.
It also has the Cylinder-on-Demand technology which deactivates the four cylinders in part-load operations, which makes it more fuel-efficient and reduces CO2 emission. The car consumes 9.6 litres of petrol per 100 km, according to company figures.
"What stands out in the new car is its super performance (with 560 hp and Cylinder-on-Demand technology fuel-efficiency) and super luxury which would appeal to all successful young people in India," Joe King, head, Audi India, told Business Today.
The car has a SUV-like look with single-frame grille at the front, LED tail lamps and rear dynamic turn signals. It comes with nine standard colours and one Matt finish colour. It will be available at all Audi dealerships across India.
This is Audi's fourth sports car to be launched in India this year. The other three are Audi R8 LMX, Audi TT Coupe and Audi RS7-all CBUs.
According to Joe King, the company has so far sold 200 units of the three sports cars launched this year. When asked if he has plans to manufacture any of these in India, King said that the current volume was too low. He, however, said that 95% of the company's cars are manufactured in India.
