Datsun will unveil its first new generation car at a world premiere event in New Delhi on July 15th, 2013.
Nissan has resurrected its Datsun brand to focus on emerging markets with an aim to offer affordable yet stylish cars. Nissan is targeting 60 per cent of its total global sales to come from emerging markets by FY16.
Datsun debuted in Japan in 1932, and hit American showrooms more than 50 years ago. But it was discontinued globally starting in 1981 to unify the model lineup under the Nissan brand.
Nissan had earlier said that it will price the
small car to be launched under the Datsun brand below Rs 4 lakh.
Nissan plans to launch the first of the future Datsun model line-up from 2014.
"Datsun will bring competitive products and services, modern and aspirational, while at the same time reassuring, providing superior value and specifically developed for the emerging and ambitious new Middle Class in high-growth markets. The Datsun cars will be locally developed with the support of Nissan Motor Company engineers and stylists and will be locally produced", said Vincent Cobee, Head of Datsun.
