Honda Amaze sales cross one-lakh mark in India

Honda Cars India has said its compact sedan Amaze has crossed one lakh sales milestone, 16 months after it was launched in the Indian market.

Powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.2-litre petrol engine, the Amaze is priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Honda entered the diesel car segment with the Amaze and it became fastest in HCIL history since its inception in the Indian market to cross the milestone, the company said.

"Honda Amaze has witnessed great success in the Indian market and the one lakh sales milestone only validates its strong presence," Jnaneswar Sen, HCIL Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, said in a statement.

Amaze has been a game changer in its segment and has enabled HCIL to reach out to a whole new set of customers, Sen said.

Honda had launched the compact family sedan in April last year.

It is available in 12 variants, including E, EX, S, SX & VX (in manual transmission in petrol and diesel), and S and VX (in automatic transmission in petrol).

The car continues to have a strong sales momentum in the market and has a lot of sales potential with the company's expanding dealership network, the company statement said.

Honda Cars India plans to have a pan-India network of 230 outlets in 150 cities by the end of this calender year from 180 dealerships in 115 cities.

The company has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Tapukara in Alwar district of Rajasthan. Honda currently sells Brio, Amaze, Mobilio, City and CR-V modes in the local market.
