Mercedes-Benz India on Monday reported a 58.81 per cent jump in sales to 640 units in January, its highest-ever tally for the month in any year.
The company sold 403 units in the corresponding month last year, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.
The Germany-based car-maker saw sales of its
C-Class sedans jump to 265 units, while E-Class models found 252 buyers in India. Mercedes recorded sales of 46 premium S-Class sedans in January, 2011, it added.
The entire range of sports utility vehicles - M, GL and R class cars - witnessed 67 units of sales last month.
"2010 was an exciting year for us. While the market grew at 60 per cent, we at Mercedes-Benz India managed a growth of 80 per cent. This clearly shows that our exciting products, strong brand traction and ownership experience continue to be highly appreciated by our customers," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Peter T Honegg said.
Meanwhile, another luxury car-maker
Audi, sold 480 units in January - its highest-ever monthly sales in India - against 306 units in the same month last year, translating into a 56.86 per cent increase.
