Mercedes to launch AMG GT later this year at Rs 3 crore

The car, launched globally in September last year, will be priced around Rs 3 crore and will be the company's twelfth launch in India this year.

Mercedes-Benz India is likely to launch its AMG GT sports car in India in the last quarter of this calendar year. The car, launched globally in September last year, will be priced around Rs 3 crore and will be the company's twelfth launch in India this year.

The company on Thursday launched AMG C 63S, its eleventh launch this year.

The company has plans for a total of 15 launches in 2015. The AMG C 63S , which is the 10th AMG model to be launched in India, would be brought in as a CBU (completely built unit) and will be available for Rs 1.3 crore.

The AMG C 63S is powered by 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine, which generates 510 hp. The company claims that the new model consumes 32 per cent less fuel compared to its previous model.

Launching the car, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes Benz India, said that the C 63 AMG has been a legendry sports car and with the launch of new generation AMG C 63S, the success story of the Mercedes-AMG brand will be further rooted in India.

On the back of new launches and new dealership launches, the German automaker has grown 41 per cent in the first half of the current calendar year.

Meanwhile, Kern will be leaving Mercedes Benz India and moving back to Europe. He would be replaced by Roland Folger, who is currently MD and CEO of Mercedes Benz in Malaysia.
