CEO speak at MindRush: My Best Advice

Several business honchos at the event shared the best advice they got from peers, seniors and family about life, happiness and success at Business Today's maiden signature event Mind Rush.

At Business Today's maiden signature event Mind Rush, words of wisdom were shared by the who's who of corporate India. Narayana Murthy, for instance, affirmed how being courteous, grateful and humble was important as one progresses in life.

Several business honchos at the event shared the best advice they got from peers, seniors and family about life, happiness and success.

Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation (India) Private Limited, recalled that his best advice came from none other than Ratan Tata when he was going to the US to seek a partner for Tata Group company Nelco. "I asked him what my brief was. He told me to build a relationship through which both sides make money," said Pramanik.

Ajay Kaul, Chief Executive Officer of Jubilant FoodWorks Limited shared how he got outstanding advice, both at a personal and professional level, from his father. He recalled the time when the company was going public. His father was critically ill and could barely talk. "He wrote a message on a paper and handed me over. 'Son, you have come a long way, you will see a lot of success, but always stay grounded. Always continue to be a good human being, irrespective of your position in life'," said Kaul.

V. Vaidyanathan, Chairman and Managing Director of Capital First Limited recalled the time when he left ICICI Bank in 2010 to take to take an entrepreneurial role. At the time he had sought Narayana Murthy's advice. "He told me to watch the company I keep. The company you keep will define you." Later, K.V. Kamath also gave him the same advice.
