India ranks 129 out of 189 countries in Human Development Index 2019

Norway has retained its first rank in United Nation's (UN) Human Development Index (HDI) 2019. Norway had a HDI score of 0.954 points. Norway has low income inequality. The poorest 40% of its population has access to 23.1% pef the country's total income. The richest 1% own 10% of the country's total income. Inequality in life expectancy stands at 3% and inequality in education is 4.4%.

Switzerland stands on the second spot in the 2019 HDI rankings. It has a score of 0.946 on the HDI index. Inequality in education is at 1.9%, among the lowest in the world. Inequality in life expectancy is at 3.5%.

Ireland has jumped a spot to secure third rank in 2019. Ireland has a score of 0.942 on the HDI index. Inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education are 3.4% and 3.5%, respectively.

Germany and Hong Kong share the fourth place with 0.939 points each on the Human Development Index. Germany has gained a place while Hong Kong has gained three places on the HDI 2019 list. Inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education in Germany stand at 3.8% and 2.7%, respectively. Hong Kong has inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education at 2.5% and 9.8%, respectively. However the report did not mention the income inequality parameters for Hong Kong.

There is no fifth spot on the list as two countries share the fourth position. Interestingly, there's a tie on the sixth position too. Australia and Iceland share the sixth rank on the UN's HDI 2019 list with a score of 0.938 points. Australia has inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education at 3.7% and 2.7%, respectively. Iceland has inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education at 2.4% and 2.8%, respectively.

Seventh place on the list belongs to Sweden with a HDI score of 0.937 points. Sweden has lost 2 places since 2018. Sweden's inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education stand at 2.9% and 3.8%, respectively. Its richest 1% population has access to 8.3% of the country's total income.

Singapore has been ranked on the ninth spot with 0.935 points. Singapore was on ninth spot in 2018 too. Inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education are at 2.5% and 11%, respectively. However the report did not mention the income inequality parameters for Singapore.

Netherlands ranks tenth on the HDI 2019 list with 0.933 points. Netherlands was on the same position in 2018. Netherlands has inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education at 3.1% and 4.9%, respectively.

China is ranked 85th with a score of 0.758 on the UN's HDI 2019. China has gained a place since the 2018 rankings. Inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education in China are at 7.9% and 10.5%, respectively.

India has gained a place in the 2018 human development index to secure a rank of 129. As per the UN report, the poorest 40% of India's population had a access to 19.8% of the country's total income. The richest 10% controlled 30.1% and the richest 1% owned 21.3%. India has high inequality in life expectancy and inequality in education at 19.7% and 38.7%, respectively.
