Indian companies invest $12 billion overseas in FY 21

Total overseas investment made by Indian companies amounted to $12.25 billion in the first 8 months of FY21.

These four sectors accounted for around 90% of total overseas investments. 'Agriculture and mining' was the new sector to receive proposals of above $1 billion.
These five countries accounted for nearly 70% of total investment.
The leading companies in terms of investment are listed in the chart. Eleven companies made investments of above $200 million, accounting for $6.18 billion.
Actual outflow was $6.35 billion, out of which $2.97 billion was through equity and $3.38 billion in loan commitments. The balance $5.90 billion were in the form of guarantees.
