Pfizer India Country President Meenakshi Nevatia reiterated the multinational’s commitment to India highlighting its ‘Make In India’ initiatives. Speaking at an event, the pharma major’s India head claimed that 70% of its products sold in India were manufactured in the country. Pfizer has its own plant in Goa as well has 18 contract partners across the country. Pfizer India is also expanding its R&D setup in India which currently comprises 1,500 staff at its Chennai centre and a tie-up with IIT-Madras. According to Nevatia, Pfizer is also shifting some of its oncology product manufacturing to Gujarat from Australia. The company is also focusing on adult vaccinations. It already has one product in the pneumococcal space for adults and is looking at bringing in more adult vaccinations.
