CAPA forecasts losses ranging from 400 to 600 million USD (Rs. 3,336 to 5,004 crore) for the aviation sector, with the previous year witnessing a shortfall of 300 to 400 million USD (Rs. 2,502 to 3,336 crore), albeit buoyed by market leader IndiGo's commendable profits. IndiGo, the low-cost carrier, commands a significant 60% share of the Indian aviation market, according to CAPA. The Air India group, inclusive of two budget carriers and two full-service airlines, namely Air India and Vistara, collectively holds around 30% of the market share. The imminent addition of 84 aircraft within the current year is anticipated to alleviate capacity constraints, elevating the total fleet count of airlines, inclusive of grounded aircraft, to 812 from March's tally of 728. Kapil Kaul, CEO of CAPA India, discusses the aviation outlook for FY25 and deliberates on which airline is poised to lead the domestic sector in the forthcoming decade, in an exclusive conversation with Business Today Television.
