The work-life balance debate seems to go on with many top industrialists joining the debate with their own takes on it. After Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, L&T chairman SN Subrahmanyam has gone viral on social media for his suggestion that employees must work 90 hours a week. His suggestion came during an employee interaction wherein he was asked why L&T is still making its employees work on Saturdays. To this, he replied that he regrets not being able to make employees work on Sunday as well. “I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy, because I work on Sundays,” Subrahmanyan was heard saying in an undated video. He further questioned the employees on what they do while they're home. "What do you do sitting at home? How long can you stare at your wife?" the chairman asked. He further said: "Come on, get to the office and start working."
Meanwhile, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani offered a more personal take, emphasizing that work-life balance is subjective and depends on individual preferences. He noted that finding joy in one’s chosen balance is key, whether it's spending four or eight hours with family. Adani humorously remarked that spending too much time might lead to unintended consequences like one's spouse leaving. The ongoing debate highlights varying views on the ideal approach to balancing work and personal life.
